Wheeler, Leonard -
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leonard Wheeler on April 7, 2015 in his 88th year after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving husband to Audrey (nee McIntyre) for 61 years, dear father of Karen Raike (George), Susan Wheeler (Chaim), and Nancy Leclair (Michael). Loving Poppa of Jeffrey, Scott, Paul, Tianna, and Amy. Cherished GP of Caden, Lilian, and Myles. Predeceased by his brother Bill. Len will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and those who's lives he touched. A lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 58, Len tirelessly supported the efforts of the poppy campaign and served on the committee for many years. Len took great pride in his home, family, and especially his community. We are thankful to the many friends, comrades, and neighbors who shared wonderful memories and a warm thank you to Pete and Terri Dorosh for their many years of generous friendship and support. Our family will never forget the kindness and care provided by Doctors Sur, Shargall, Koziak, and Morgan and their care teams, and especially to our Bayshore nurses Jennifer and Avi. Friends will be received at the LG WALLACE Funeral Home (151 Ottawa St. N, Hamilton 905-544-1147) on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Burkholder United Church (465 Mohawk Rd. E, Hamilton) on Friday, April 10 at 11a.m. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Len's memory can be made to the Poppy Fund at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 58.
