Custeau, James Charles McLean - It is with great sadness that I, Lillian Custeau (Hoblak), announce the sudden loss of my dear loving husband and best friend of 45 years, James on Monday, May 30, 2016 at the age of 75 at The Hamilton General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Cherished brother and brother-in-law of Janice McDiarmid (Murray), Jill Custeau-Maida (Carl), Jerry Hoblak (Lynda). He will be dearly missed by his neices and nephews Eric McDiarmid (Julie), Julie Benn (Jamie), Paul McDiarmid (Kristen), Tiffany Hoblak (Mike Eshelby), James Maida (Christina), Michael Hoblak and 10 great nieces and nephews. Jim will also will be missed by cousin Janet McKune (Danny) and many other cousins. Jim was a 30 year employee of Dofasco, retiring in 1993. He was a lifetime member and volunteer of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, serving as a Flight Safety Officer of the DC3, tour guide, and former crew chief of the Corsair. Jim will be sadly missed by all his neighbours, friends, and family for his humour, advice, and helping hand. He was the official Mayor and snow blower of the court he lived on. He was quite the practical joker and brought laughter and joy to everyone he met and they always walked away with a smile. Jim had many talents; he was a former pilot, he ran the CWH travel club, he excelled at woodworking (building a beautiful pergola at his home), he could fix anything. Jim had a passion for cars, boats and anything that moved and was a loyal fan of Ohsweken and Nascar racing, which included taking a ride both at Ohsweken and at Daytona.. Cremation has taken place. Please join our family for a Celebration of Jim's life at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum on Saturday, June 11 at 1pm until 4pm with a short service commencing at 2pm. In lieu of flowers Jim would have appreciated donations to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum or Hamilton SPCA.
"James was a special man and he will never be forgotten."
