Hunt, Edward Matheson - With his family by his side on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Ridgeview Long Term Care Centre in his 74th year. Edward's kind nature and nurturing heart will be forever remembered by his wife Claudette, son Gregory and wife Erika and grandchildren Nathan and Natalie, son Michael, and son Stephen, and the McKinney families, Rick Roy and family, and Andree Verticchio and family. Edward was a very strong man and a fighter to the end. He will live always in the hearts of his sister Edith of Halifax and her family, Sam and Carol Petrie and their family, cousins, nieces, nephews and many other family, friends, co-workers and union acquaintances of both Ontario and Nova Scotia. Edward has joined his Mother and Father and older sister Ann-Louise and at this moment is most likely out walking the family dog Kemo. Edward grew up in Glace Bay, Cape Breton and served in the Air Force in Cold Lake Alberta (a place he liked to call the "back-end of beyond”) He then moved to Hamilton and worked for Westinghouse and the United Electrical Workers Union before taking a job with the Labour Management Services with the Government of Canada in 1984 until his retirement. Edward was an avid supporter of the Hamilton Bull Dogs and the Toronto Blue Jays, but even a greater supporter of his family. Edward would never pass a red kettle (Christmas kettle) without emptying his pockets for them. He was a very generous and kind man who will live on in our hearts forever. He was very well respected by all. Many thanks to all of the staff at Ridgeview LTC for their compassion and care for Edward. As per Edward's wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please send prayers and love. "Goodbye all."
